Widescreen fixer works like a charm! (how to change fov)
Limited field of view is game breaking issue. At least for me, i cant play with 65 fov. Widescreen fixer allows u to change it.
Heres an example:

Owned copies question
Hey,I bought one copy of the game for pc.It is currently installed on my sons computer and working fine...He does not play it much and only plays on weekends. Can I install this game to my PC (same house) and play when he is not here? IE can we play on two computers but NOT at the SAME TIME? Sorry if this is covered somewhere, could not find any help regarding this. Also, how many discs are there, in the case it only has "Disc 1"? TIA

MW3 Engine audio processing
Does anyone know how the IW 4.0/5.0 engine handles audio processing? I'm finding insufficient information on the interwebs. COD4 was based upon the id Tech 3 (Quake III Arena) engine, and I'm assuming MW2 and MW3 are just optimizations and improvements to that base engine. COD4 used DirectSound (http://connect.creativelabs.com/alchemy/Lists/Games/AllItems.aspx), which in Windows Vista and 7 no longer communicates with sound drivers (i.e. no hardware acceleration).
If MW3 uses DirectSound3d you could use a software intermediary, like ALchemy or DS3D GX, to get some hardware acceleration. Some games, admittedly few, can talk OpenAL directly, bypassing DirectSound. In a completely different direction, DICE's Frostbite engine uses the CPU (proprietary code) for sound processing.
So what does MW2/MW3 do? It matters because it may mean that dedicated sound cards are nearly irrelevant. The exceptions are post-processing (SVN, CMSS 3d, Dolby headphone, etc.) and superior components and shielding.

Wouldn't it be great if we were given an option to choose never to play with certain players/cheaters again? How difficult would it be to patch this game with a feature like this? Can we at least get someone crackin on this for mw4?
This is crazy that we're forced to play with idiots using cheats over & over again with no control over the situation.
Let us choose & let the cheaters have fun playing eachother.

[Dissapointed]: Still no Linux server files....
I am/was a huge fan of Call of Duty series...
I use to buy all the titles of this game only to play the multiplayer part and have fun with friends and familty
I bought and played Call of Duty 1 - I was using the linux files to run a server for friends
I bought and played Call of Duty UO - i made a linux server for friends
I bought and played Call of Duty 2 - I made a linux server for clan and friends
I bought and played and still playing Call of Duty 4:MW - I made a few Linux servers for clannies to play and have fun
and all this because WE HAD/HAVE the dedicated linux files.
I bought and played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 saddly No dedicated servers,lags,annoying match-making and after a few months not enough players to play with low latency ... So i went back to CoD4 again...
I downloaded cracked version of Black Ops played the single and waited to hear the news that YOU will release dedicated server files to the public....
But... YOU didnt you gave them to selected GSPs so we ll have to pay to own a server. So i deleted your game and i didnt even finished the single player...
Now you have a new "child" it's Called "Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3"... You brought the dedicated servers to the public..but not yet the Linux support the mod tools and all that stuff that makes a game successful...
I 've lost faith in ur abilities to do a "good job". People lost their faith in ur abilities... Why change a formula that made the "call of duty" title game of the year several times to a cheap formula that wont be making u profit for very much long?
Go back to the old ways steam is bad punkbuster good - dedicated servers good - linux servers files even better...
I am will buy the new title only if there will be Linux server files... otherwise i will remain ...

Problem with Texture Settings
Hey,
I bought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at the day of release and at the first start of the game I adjusted the graphics. Since then I played the game daily and several weeks ago I realised that the textures are blurry.
I checked the graphics settings and I realised that all the texture settings are set to High instead of Extra. I played with the Extra texture settings for weeks without any problems, so I tried to set it back, but I can not adjust these settings. When I set the textures to Extra and I go back to the main menu and after that I return to the texture options they are on High settings again. It does not save the settings.
I tried to search for help in this question, but I did not find solution, but I found out that many players are suffering from this problem in both singleplayer and multiplayer. I updated all my drivers, DirectX, uninstalled the game and reinstalled again and I sent an email to the Support but nothing changed. I realised this issue after one of the patches, so maybe there is the problem. I meet the system requirements so it can not be the problem. Any idea how to fix this?

how many players on pc and how many on xbox servers ?
I was playing pc .. as long as it was possible to play.
I was not playing very much . its is like 1 h at once or 30 min . you know few matches for fun . I play like that more then once a day . My job let me do
2 months ago i notice that its around 45.000 players on iWnet when i joing . Was it morning or night it didnt really mater 45.000 plaeys was there. If you add rotation of players that is probobly much much higher numbers of players.
Today its just 20.000 players that i see . I dont know why that much maybe some are more lucky then me and can find from time to time hack free match.
How does it look like for xbox ? how many players does iwnet shows on servers ?
I also have question for developer . Why all those pc users are not imporant and there is 0 support for pc ? Do you not plan to realse next cod tittle on pc ? Do you think pc players will buy your game that is broken and players are left alone with cheaters and hackers .. not to mention general lack of interest in relasing any good patch that would fix major weapon imbalance . You dont even care to make it posible to buy map packs for pc users . Is this really a hint that no more CoD for PC ?

Modern Warfare 3 DirectX Installation Errors Fix?
Hi there,
I have bought Modern Warfare 3 yesterday during the 33% off sale on Steam, and just finished downloading it today. After I had clikced on the play button for the multiplayer, it runs through the standard first time instalation things. After reaching the "Microsoft DirectX for Windows" set-up, I will get an error ( http://i.imgur.com/tD9Hs.png ). After this I click the "OK" button, it launches the game to the loading screen, then gives me another error saying " Couln't load image 'voice_off' " that crashes my game. Has anyone got a fix for this problem?
System Specs :
Intel Celeron CPU Single Core @ 2.29GHz
2GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64BIT.

FIX for DLC files problem - Thanks to TheTruthHurts on steam forums
As the idiots at IW cant fix their own game it took a PC community player to temporarily fix this pos,
Thanks to TheTruthHurts from the steam forums:
"I found a solution for properly disabling DLC to join into regular lobbies (non-DLC players).
You need to go to the MW3\Main folder (for me it is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\main").
The full fix is, move or rename these files:
42695.sdm
iw_25.iwd
iw_26.iwd
localized_xxxx_iw06.iwd
localized_xxxx_iw07.iwd
Fill in "xxxx" with your game language. Mine is english.
I was able to join 6 different non-DLC hosts consecutively without getting the files different error.
Now, start the game, and play with non-DLC people. You will no longer get the "Files different" error.
If you want to play on DLC maps again, you need to rename the file back, and restart the game.
